Laura Guy gained her BA in Photographic Arts from the University of Westminster and is currently MA candidate in Durham University’s Centre for Advanced Photography Studies. She works as a curator for Inheritance Projects and is an associate of Vision Forum, hosted by Linkoping Universitet, Sweden.
Her research interests include the social and political dimensions of history making; photography and its communities in 20th century Britain; inter-generational feminist poster work in the 1970s and 80s and the New British Photography and TEN.8 Photographic Journal 1979 – c. 1993. As an independent practitioner she has curated and contributed to various programmes, most recently That Is, These Scenes (published by mac, Birmingham, 2010-12), Illuminations (North East Photography Network, University of Sunderland & the Lit & Phil, Newcastle, 2012), The Legacy of TEN.8 and Art & the City symposiums (both mac, Birmingham, 2011) and the Photobook Symposium (Camberwell College of Art, 2011).
